Weidmann's latest word study centers around an idea that has long worn itself in the hearts of wise men and women.
"Legacy" holds firm in bold gothic lettering from which carefully executed flourishes abound. As the Master thoughtfully lays each stroke of the pen, each stroke of our lives will weave a tale throughout our own legacy.

Weidmann's latest gallery release features the familiar, highly-detailed style you have come to know in his collectible works. Demonstrated in this piece is a compass rose designed with the writer in mind: calligraphy and fountain pens alike comprise the points of this compass and the charge adorning the perimeter of the design directs the lost writer in a most poetical way...
"When you are lost amind dreams and thoughts,
When feelings fail you and hope departs,
Take the course that is tried and true;
Follow the pen --
Write where it leads you."
Words composed by Jake Weidmann.
Interesting fact: the poetical phrase comprises of 32 words; a traditional compass rose has 32 points. Consider each word of this phrase a point on the Writer's Compass, directing them through the fog of their writer's block!

Having grown up in Denver, in the shadow of the Colorado Rockies, I did not have to search far for inspiration for this piece -- it was already stored up in me.
I wanted convey in the composition the rugged beauty of Colorado. The Bison seemed the perfect icon as the city of Denver owns two bison herds. The large, sloping back of the bison I thought worked well to articulate the high peaks of the Rocky Mountains while the skyline of Denver filled in the negative space between it’s front and hind legs. The mighty buffalo’s neck is enwreathed with the “D” and ornamented with columbines, Colorado’s state flower.
The Indian arrow, which crosses through the middle of DENVER speaks to the many tribes that used to travel the Colorado front range, following the bison herds. Finally, the whip of the tail becomes the ligature of the “R” as the final compositional blend of the buffalo, our city, and the name she bears.
I hope this piece serves as an inspiration and a source of Colorado pride to the Denverites here in the Mile High city!

Executed in one continuous line, Weidmann's latest gallery release features the portrait of the Reverend Martin Luther King, Jr. as the very first in his series, The Power of One.
The last single line portrait Weidmann created was a decade ago in 2009, depicting the face of Christ as he looks to the Heavens in The Suffering Servant in a Single Stroke. Since its debut in Weidmann's collection of work, this has been one of his most wildly successful and far-reaching artworks in his career.
Using only one of his handmade calligraphy pens and an inkwell, Weidmann draws these portraits in a continuous line. The flexible pen point of the nib creates a natural pressure system which gives the line varying densities. Beginning at the very center of the nose, the line gets thick and thin to create shadow and highlight of the face, encircling itself again and again, then evens out to a perfect circle.
Weidmann chose this technique to relay the power that one person can have; that the peaceful actions and powerful words of one can create a ripple effect through time, echoing Truth for future generations. The lineage of the Reverend Martin Luther King, Jr. is not forgotten as we celebrate a day in his honor each January. His peaceful action in the civil rights movement revolutionized his culture. We recount his dedication to correcting the injustices of his time and we look to him, a leader in history, as his work is just as relevant today.
The Power of One Series will feature the men and women that have changed the course of history for the betterment of our world. Stay tuned as Weidmann adds to this series one portrait --one line-- at a time.
Wings have become a signature symbol for Weidmann's collection of work as he has incorporated countless sets of wings in his drawings, paintings, and calligraphic-inspired works as well as intricately carving them in wood. The addition of Weidmann's latest bronze sculpture showcases his expert study of wings and their feathering detail.
Modeled after a pair of eagle's wings, this bronze sculpture depicts within it the beauty and grace found on creatures that have long signified the heavenly realm. These wings profoundly remind us of the promise God gives to his people as the Shekinah Glory or dwelling of His divine presence.
This sculpture is available as a limited edition series of 50.
Please note: Because we work with a foundry here in Colorado, our timeline to reproduce each bronze takes 12-14 weeks upon placing your order. Email email@example.com for more info. about when you can expect your sculpture.

The art of flourishing is one that is not only prevalent in the world of calligraphy but in our everyday lives. Weidmann yearns to bring forth the idea that "flourishing" is an art form that is taken beyond pen and ink: this is a way of life!
Created originally for his online class, The Fundamentals of Flourishing (available to students beginning summer 2019), Weidmann wanted to make it available to his following so that, despite whether or not they partook in his flourishing course, anyone could have access to this idea of flourishing and that it might encourage them to thrive in any and all areas of their life.
What are the ways you're flourishing? Collect this unlimited edition artwork for your studio, home, or office to remind you that YOU were made to FLOURISH.

The Hummingbird | A poem by Harry Hibbard Kemp
"The sunlight speaks and its voice is a bird
It glitters half guessed, half seen, half-heard
Above the flowerbed, over the lawn
A flashing dip, and it is gone
And all it lends to the eye is this...
A sunbeam giving the air a kiss."
Penned by Jake Weidmann in traditional Spencerian script. Spring 2019.
