The flourishing off the wingtips of this humble bird shows the powerful impact of a single, small life.

This piece emerged from the sorrow felt in the tragic aftermath of the Sandy Hook Elementary school shooting, taking place on December 14, 2012. The night of the tragedy, Jake, like countless others, tried to comprehend the wreckage of the day. In the midst of helplessness, a hopeful message stirred in the heart of the artist and emerged a flourishing bird-in-flight.

This little bird is a messenger of hope: though evil is rampant, goodness prevails. Each life is precious in the eyes of God and it is through Him that innocence and hope
is restored.
“Do not fear those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul…Are not two sparrows sold for a penny? And not one of them will fall to the ground apart from your Father.”
Matthew 10:28-29
Though the sparrow is small, it has great impact. If God cares for the tiny sparrows of the air, how much more does He care for you? I pray this gives you hope this season as Christ came as a tiny, helpless babe -- humble and small-- like the sparrow, carrying the Promise of Great Hope!

A message of restoration, renewal and transformation, these hands give hope to the hopeless, comfort to the suffering, and healing to the broken in the promise that, "His eye is on the sparrow."
Our life is anew in Christ through salvation! What Christ did on the cross is an illustration of our spiritual life...what was once dead has risen indeed! In this season, we celebrate the birth of the King of Kings and Lord of Lords; that He came as The Gift to later die to gift us life.

Jesus was born not to change history but eternity. As Christ entered into this dark world two thousand years ago, so the Spirit enters our dark hearts today to bring His light and flourish through us. This is the great gift of an ever-living and ever-loving God. Even in His name, there is a promise- Immanuel, God With Us!
Let this ring true for you this season. May God's presence be known to you not only in this season but for 2019!
